Sacramento Port 3/7/13

Now that I know the stripers are in there I'll probably hitting this place up a lot. Took Steven back out with me and met Garrett and Mike (Bankcaster) out in the parking lot. We all got rigged up and headed for the opposite shore. Garrett and I have noticed that for some reason this shore usually produces a lot more fish. Why? probably because there is less pressure and I know a couple spots are a little deeper, but not by much. Started off throwing in the lock for nothing. Garrett was the first to make his way further down the canal. Sure enough it didn't take long 5 mins later we heard splashing looked over and Garrett had a keeper to the
bank. Probably 20-22 inches.

After seeing the we all pretty much said screw the lock and we all walked down to the banks. With 4 of us out there working it was cool, we could all spread out and work a lot of water pretty quickly. Mike was the next to hook up with this nice little shaker.

After I went back from taking Mike's picture Steven told me he had just missed two good hits and Garrett had missed a few as well. Kept working the shore line and everyone had been missing hits here and there, but I haven't even had a nibble yet. What the heck? I switched up a couple of different colors trying to find something to work for me. Steven was giving me shit about not getting hit, I told him don't worry though man when I get do get a hit I won't miss it like all of you guys are. Being a little cocky there. 20 mins later though my swimbait gets hammered and I drilled that hook into em and got my first fish.

About an 1/8th of an inch shy from 24 inches Really nice fish for the port. Action slowed down a little bit for us as the tide kept going out. My dad was actually out fishing here today too, just on the opposite bank from us. He unfortunately wasn't having any luck though. Mike managed another shaker throwing is white swimbait with the chartreuse tail.

I stuck my second fish a little closer to the bridge.
