Amador 2/28/13

Last day of Feb. went out with my dad to try for another hog at Amador. Got on the water today around 0800 and started off trolling Rapala's since thats what everyone has been getting them on the last few times we've been out here. Made three laps around the entire lake for 3 hits on my dad's F-11 hot steel Rapala resulting in one fish.

That last hit though snapped his line and after he lost his hot lure it threw us off and we kind of lost faith in the Rapala's. Slowed it down and made the switch over to power
worms. We must have trolled around the mouth of Jackson and Doney bay for at least an hour without another hit even though we did see a few risers here and there. When we made our way back over to the North shore between the spillway and mountain springs though I got a quick hit and my dad's F-9 hot steel rap got hit and we had a double! Got the fish in and I had an average trout and my dad had a scrappy little crappie. Put the lines back out and almost immediately I stuck another one. Now we got a decent looking stringer.

Kept working this area and found some schools that were holding off of a few points and the mouth of mountain. Was consistently getting hits every 10-15 mins.

Someone was doing some burning today on the mountain side.

My phone unfortunately died pretty early in the day so I wasn't able to take any more pictures. We ended with sticking 7 trout total though all on pink powerworms except for the early one on the Rapala. Spent the last hour of our day throwing swimbaits and senkos at the shore line to see if any bass were biting today, but we didn't have any luck with that. Biggest today was just over 3lbs. Most boaters we saw only had maybe one or two to the boat. The bank anglers soaking bait though I saw were killing em. Seemed like everyone on the bank had limits. Off of the water today by 1500.

Till Next Time Guys
Mark
